Samantha "Sam" Morgan is Ethan and Jane Morgan's caring mother. She just might be cause of the series. If she had not hired a babysitter to watch her kids, we would not have a storyline along with Erica. Her name is a parody of the character, Samara Morgan from the Ring horror film series.
